On the heels of their self-titled debut last year, Denmark heavy/speed metallers Encyrcle have returned with a new EP. "Burning Child" represents more than one kind of shift for the band - they replaced their singer following the album, and their new material sees a greater diversity in tempo and mood than ever before. This 4-song EP (which consists of two originals including the epic title track, a short instrumental, and a cover of The Doors' "Strange Days") is a feast for enthusiasts of melodic, soaring lead guitar work and Maiden-esque vocals. Whatever follows is yet unknown, but this EP shows Encyrcle broadening their sonic pallet while still working the same general territory as their riff-laden, fist-pumping first release.
